Suvai Bar & Restaurant in Essen

I can recommend it to everybody. Very tasty and a large selection of vegan dishes!

This was my first time in Suvai. It was so delicious and the service was super friendly. The portions were just the right size. We definitely come more often now!

Food was little cold

We had planned to visit the Suvai for a long time, yesterday it finally happened. And we haven't regretted going out to eat there much sooner. The vegan selection is huge, including dessert, which is always a bit difficult for vegans in mixed restaurants. As a starter we had the mixed plate for 2 people. Consists of a mixture of various starters that can also be ordered individually. Even the starter made you want more. Subtly spiced but still intense in taste - just great. The main course consisted of a soy chunk meat in a hot sauce with rice and a second Kothu Rotti. The soy chunks were cooked to perfection and had just the right amount of heat. The Rotti, on the other hand, was rather mildly spiced but, like the starters, still had an intense taste. We have already been to many Indian restaurants, but so far we haven't had a Rotti on the menu - definitely try it! For dessert there was a coconut and pineapple ice cream (not yet on the menu) that was noticeable because it was not too sweet but pleasantly sourly fresh. A successful conclusion. We will be back definitely!

A really extraordinary restaurant with extremely delicious dishes. Particularly noteworthy is the very, very friendly and courteous staff, who not only speak perfect German, but are also quite funny. The restaurant is on a side street and is not necessarily a place you pass by, but it is definitely worth a visit!

We can only agree with the many positive comments. Top service, very good food and a nice location. There is enough parking space nearby at the weekend. The outside area is only very small. We will be back.

Excellent (price worthy)

This is the only Srliankan restaurants we have visted multiple times for dinner. The quality of the food is really good even though it's a bit pricey. I specially want to mention the excellent service of this restaurant. The staff is really friendly and helps us choose what is good and explains about the dish in detail. They have happy hours for cocktails from 9 pm onwards for 5.5 euros for large ones, which is really great. One must try their zombie and long island cocktail, it's really worth it. Kothu Porotta is really good and filling. All their chicken and veggies are good. I didn't like the beef curries that much. And for grilled items, Madras grilled chicken was nice. Please note that they are closed on Wednesday's but open on all other days.

The Suvai offers very tasty food in an authentic atmosphere. The waiters are as friendly as if they were the Sri Lankan part of your family. It was great fun and I felt very well. It was always inquired about our satisfaction and it was really nothing to complain about. We are thrilled and gladly come back. Only then with many friends who are very excited to eat here, because we are so enthusiastic about the Suvai.

While visiting Essen was very lucky googling Suvai ! Absolutely an awesome experience! Starting with nice atmosphere , Niro our host was super sweet and friendly!! We loved him and his kind hospitality! Every single dish we ordered was packed with flavour and u can clearly sense the Freshness and how everything is home made! We would definitely be back!!

A very nice place, with very friendly waiters. I had the Chedinad Kokos Chicken Curry and it was a fine meal. I was missing my beloved naan bread in the menu though, that was a bit of a let down.. all in all - thank you for the pleasant dinner!

Excellent service, great food

I was here for first time and the food taste really good. The people in the restaurant are very friendly. Only my concern is the price is bit high when I compare with other Tamil restaurants. Overall I can recommend this restaurant.

Good Srilankan resturant and nice service

Loved the food... will recommend this place for tasty south indian food in Essen. Restaurant was nice.. people were nice. They took care of their guest cery nicely. Different varieties for vegetarians and non vegetarians. For desert kulfi was the most amazing surprise. For me this home made kulfi was the winner of all. Price little to the higher side. But taste is really upto the mark.

Lunch menu is not expensive and delicious. The lunch menu on weekdays was very limited, but not bad. The dessert that I made with LaCie was also delicious. ? Your staff is really nice too! loved everything here. Tasty food, nice staffs, good price! Lassi and Desserts were also very good. Lunch menu is very limited though (wanted to try Rotiiiiii) otherwise nothing to dislike! :)
